Rapist Lawmaker ‘Copyrights’ Name To Gag Press

Former lawmaker Ted Alvin Klaudt, who was previously convicted of raping his two foster daughters, has sent copyright threats to news outlets in an attempt to ban them from repeating his name. Ted Alvin Klaudt wants $500,000 per infringement

Ted Alvin KlaudtTed Alvin Klaudt, aged 51, was a farmer, rancher, and former member of the South Dakota House of Representatives (1999-2006).

In 2007, Ted Alvin Klaudt was convicted on four counts of second-degree rape against his two foster daughters and 44 years in prison for rape and 10 further years for witness tampering.

From his prison cell, Ted Alvin Klaudt has now sent news organizations a document entitled “Common Law Copyright Notice” which warns them that his name is copyrighted in an attempt to stop it being used without his consent.

Klaudt, whose forenames are Ted Alvin, said that anyone using his name without permission will owe him $500,000.

Ted Alvin Klaudt’s daughter, Roxy, told the Associated Press that her father had sent the copyright notice but would not explain why.

Currently being held at the state prison in Springfield, Ted Alvin Klaudt should be well aware that it’s impossible to stop people repeating his name in the press and especially on the Internet.

Furthermore, printing the name Ted Alvin Klaudt in a news article does not constitute an infringement, so he can ask for a billion dollars if he likes, it means nothing.
